What to do if the confidentiality of your email account has been compromised?

If Zone has identified that an email account has been compromised or the set password is not secure, we will notify the customer.

Info

To ensure that notifications always reach the correct recipient, please verify that the account’s contact details are correct. You can check and update your account’s contact details in the My Zone control panel.

  • In case of a compromised password, there is a risk that the email account has been maliciously logged into and exploited.
  • It’s possible to check whether third parties have logged into the mailbox in webmail.
  • You can find instructions for checking your email account’s security log here.
Attention

If the mailbox has been logged into with a leaked or guessed password, please take into account in your risk assessments that a prior breach of confidentiality of correspondence between you and the other party increases the probability that you and/or the other party may fall victim to scams/fraud.

The following authorities can be notified in case of a breach of email account confidentiality:

  1. The Cyber Incidents Response Department of the Information System Authority, CERT-EE – email address cert@cert.ee or web form at https://raport.cert.ee/
  2. The Police Cybercrime Unit – cybercrime@politsei.ee or web form at https://www.politsei.ee/en/report-to-police
  3. If the incident may have involved a breach of personal data confidentiality, instructions for notifying the Data Protection Inspectorate can be found at https://www.aki.ee/meist/vota-uhendust/rikkumisteade.

For additional information, you can always contact our customer support at info@zone.ee.
